Games 1-13 are particularly suitable for use with the journal in the Children's Pack and the Learn 101 Verbs books.
Teachers can ask questions about the book to help the students get to know it better.According to the students level, your questions could be in their first language or in the target language. Here are a few examples:
v How many times does the dog appear in the whole book?
v How many different outfits does the man wear? And the woman?
v Which verb has been drawn in vegetables? And in smoke?
After having had a look at the whole book, ask each student to write a summary of the story, in their own or the target language.
Students to write/draw the missing verbs in the journal.
Students are in groups of 3. Teacher asks questions such as how do you say he sings?. First group to say the answer gets a point. Students are allowed to use the book.
Students are in teams. Teacher asks questions and sets a time limit for answers to be written. When the quiz is over, answer sheets are redistributed and groups mark eachother.
Students could be put into teams of 3 or 4. They have to write a story using all 11 verbs from the journal. If you are using the book, students should aim to use at least 25 of the 101 verbs.
Draw a cartoon with the verbs to follow your story
Write a poem using the verbs from the book. Try to make it rhyme and illustrate it.
Best played in pairs or small groups where 1 student mimes a verb of his choice, it can also be played as a class activity. To make it more difficult, the students could have to guess a conjugated form of the verb rather than the infinitive. E.g. Ils chantent instead of just chanter.
Draw some verbs on a piece of paper but not all 11. Now can the next person see which ones are missing?
Recreate scenes from the book, but conjugate the verbs. E.g. p176 186. One person can be the man, another the burgler... Each of you needs to say what they are doing.
Open the book on the page with mentir. Choose different forms of it and ask your partner if they are correct. If they are not, he or she must say mentiroso!. Change roles and verb when you have been found out.
Each role-play could be recorded. At the start of each one, a student should shout GRABAR!
